There are two types of mandrels: wedge type and umbrella type. The smaller diameter of mandrel is more wedge type structure, and the large diameter of mandrel is more used of umbrella type structure.

The diameter of the mandrel can be adjusted by a manual wrench or an electric wrench. After completing a coil, the diameter of mandrel is reduced, and then the coil can be lifted away from the mandrel.
